Associate Therapist

Virginia Social Work Resident

Heala Psychotherapy is currently hiring an Associate Therapist (Virginia Social Work Resident). This position includes ongoing clinical supervision with a Virginia based licensed supervisor to support your professional growth and licensure requirements. This is a hybrid position (client sessions are virtual. Position training and networking events will be held in person). 
Duties
  • Provide individual counseling sessions virtually. Attend in person networking events for marketing 1 to 2x per month in Northern Virginia. Conduct thorough intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and document progress using standardized measures (e.g., DSM-5-TR) where appropriate. Complete timely clinical documentation consistent with legal and ethical guidelines. Oversee intake processes and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all documentation. Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on various issues as needed. Ensure adherence to best practices in client care and implement quality improvement initiatives within the practice. Coordinate care with other professionals (e.g., psychiatrists, psych nurse practitioners, primary care physicians, community providers) to ensure continuity and quality of client care. Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, case consultations, and continuing education opportunities. Adhere to all federal HIPAA regulations, state licensing laws, and ethical standards set by the Virginia Social Work Board. Collaborate with the Heala Psychotherapy team on treatment recommendations, case conceptualization, and contribute to a supportive practice environment. Engage in workshops/classes held by Heala Psychotherapy as needed for clinical and marketing purposes. Participate in ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care, women’s mental health, and relationship therapy.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, community providers, and team members. Compassionate approach to client care, integrating consideration of social determinants of health. Provides LGBTQIA affirming care. Ability to establish strong therapeutic alliances with women and families navigating complex trauma histories. Experience in working with clients from diverse cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with cultural humility and responsiveness. Strong interest in developing expertise in relationship therapy, including couples and mother–adult daughter work. Strong understanding of records management and timely clinical documentation. Familiarity with Simple Practice (Electronic Health Record System is a plus). Knowledgeable about HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality requirements. Ability to conduct thorough client assessments and develop effective treatment plans. Experience or training in trauma informed treatment interventions is a plus. This role requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work.

  • Active Resident in Social Work status in Virginia.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth platforms.

  • Availability to see 12-15 clients per week. Flexible scheduling.

  • Ability to pass a background and reference check prior to employment.

Compensation:

  • Clinical hours: $35 per hour (therapy sessions, intakes, assessments)

  • Admin hours: $25 per hour (training, documentation, meetings, client communication (email/phone), marketing activities)

Associates are compensated for up to 20 hours per week, including both clinical and admin time. Paid time is also available for monthly networking/marketing efforts.
